LinkUp — Privacy Policy

LinkUp ("we", "us", or "our") is a social event-planning app built for small groups of friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using LinkUp, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following information when you use LinkUp:

• Account information: email address, display name, and optional profile photo, provided when you create an account.
• Event content: event details, chat messages, photos, checklist items, and location information that you and your group create within the app.
• Device information: push notification tokens to send you event alerts, and basic device identifiers required for app operation.
• Usage data: information about how you interact with the app, such as features used and frequency of use, collected to improve the service.

2. How we use your information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the LinkUp service.
• To enable real-time collaboration features such as chat, shared photos, and checklists within your events.
• To send push notifications for new messages and event activity (you can disable these in your device settings at any time).
• To improve and develop the app based on usage patterns.
• To respond to support requests.

3. How we store your information

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services, including Firestore (database) and Firebase Storage (photos). Data is stored in Google Cloud data centres in Europe (London region). Firebase Storage for photos uses Google's US-based infrastructure. All data transmission is encrypted using TLS.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With other event members: your display name, profile photo, and content you post (messages, photos, checklist items) are visible to other members of events you join.
• Service providers: we use Google Firebase to power the app's backend. Google's privacy policy applies to their infrastructure.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests.

5. Photos and camera access

LinkUp requests access to your camera and photo library solely to allow you to share photos within your events. Photos you upload are stored in Firebase Storage and are accessible only to members of the event they were shared in. You can delete photos you have uploaded at any time within the app.

6. Push notifications

We use Expo's push notification service to deliver event alerts. Notification tokens are stored securely and are only used to send you notifications related to your events. You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your device's notification settings.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and content will be removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Children's privacy

LinkUp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
• The right to request correction of inaccurate data.
• The right to request deletion of your data.
• The right to object to or restrict processing of your data.
• The right to data portability.
